Interreg Cooperation Day 2025 – “Stronger Together”, celebrated in Tulcea on 8 October 2025

Every year, more than 40 European countries celebrate Interreg Cooperation Day, an initiative that reminds us that Europe is not defined by borders but by a community of people united through shared values, dialogue and mutual trust. It is a day dedicated to cooperation, friendship and the European spirit, showing that together we can build a better future.

Through cultural, educational and civic activities, this day brings to the forefront the tangible results of Interreg programmes, demonstrating how ideas come to life through collaboration: ideas become projects, projects turn into partnerships and partnerships grow into success stories for the communities that choose to cooperate beyond borders.

Art for Cooperation

The 2025 edition of Interreg Cooperation Day was celebrated in Tulcea, under the theme “Stronger Together”, a message that reflects human connections beyond borders and the importance of solidarity. Through this initiative, Tulcea joins the cities of Chernivtsi and Suceava in a series of artistic projects that bring color and visibility to cross-border cooperation.

A new mural, symbolically entitled “Cooperate. Create. Connect.”, was painted on the façade of “Alexandru Ciucurencu” Gymnasium School by Tulcea- based artist Silviu Tudorof. The work completes the series of murals inaugurated in Suceava (2022) and Chernivtsi (2024) on the occasion of Interreg Cooperation Day – symbols of shared friendship and creativity.

More than just an artistic intervention, this year’s mural is a visual manifesto of cooperation and European values. Painted on the walls of a school, the artwork becomes an open lesson about dialogue, respect, and solidarity – a reminder that beyond borders, people share common value and that art can serve as a universal language of understanding and peace.

Stronger Together

The Interreg Cooperation Day 2025 in Tulcea was not only a celebration, but also a living expression of the spirit that defines the Interreg NEXT Romania–Ukraine Programme – bringing people together, promoting mutual understanding and building, step by step, a shared future based on trust, dialogue, and friendship.

The event was attended by representatives of the Programme Management Authority (MDLPA) and the Joint Secretariat (BRCT Suceava), as well as former and current beneficiaries of the Romania–Ukraine cooperation programmes, representatives of local public authorities, and members of the interested public. They all emphasized the importance of cross-border cooperation in strengthening relations between communities in the two countries.
