The final draft of Interreg NEXT Romania-Ukraine Programme was approved by the Joint Programming Committee

Partners in Romania and Ukraine met online on May 25, within the Joint Programming Committee, to discuss the draft of Romania-Ukraine Interreg NEXT Programme for 2021-2027, including the financial allocations for programme priorities. The two delegations approved the document drafted by the Managing Authority. The cooperation programme will be published for consultation for a period of 10 days.

By the end of June 2022, the document is estimated to be endorsed by the Governments of the two participating countries, in order to be submitted for approval to the European Commission.

The main fields of intervention to be financed by the future programme are the prevention of risks in case of disasters, health, education, culture and eco-tourism, as well as border management. The European Union contribution to the programme is of 51,207,000 Euro.

Both representatives of Romania, as well as those of Ukraine supported the continuation of cross border cooperation projects, together with the importance of speeding up the approval procedure of Interreg NEXT Programme, so as to benefit as soon as possible of the funds allocated to the development of the border areas.
