On Thursday, November 3, 2022, the seventh meeting of the Joint Monitoring Committee (JMC) of the Joint Operational Programme Romania-Ukraine took place, online, with the participation of representatives from the two partner states.
During the meeting, the stage of programme implementation has been analysed, together with the necessary measures needed to accelerate the projects activities, considering the need to finish them by the end of December 2023.
Currently, 66 cooperation projects are funded through the Romania-Ukraine Programme – amounting 65.9 million euro, out of which 51.8 million euro are European funds. The projects carry out infrastructure investments, equipment endowment, experience exchanges and joint training of partners, for the benefit of both participating countries.
By the date of this current JMC annual review, 38 million euro have been transferred to the beneficiaries (institutions implementing projects) – as pre-financing or final payments, for the projects that reached the completion of their activities.
The discussion also covered the analysis of the draft European regulation aimed at supporting all the cooperation programmes, in the context of the conflict in Ukraine and the suspension of cooperation programmes with Russia and Belarus. The document envisages measures to provide more flexibility on projects implementation and simplification of programme management procedures.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Management Authority (MDPWA), of the Joint Technical Secretariat (Suceava CBC Office), local authorities from the counties and oblasts in the programme area, as well as representatives of the National Authorities from the two countries and the European Commission.
