On Wednesday, October 5, 2022, "Message for Ukraine" campaign, organised to mark the European Cooperation Day, reached its end in a public event held in Suceava.
On this occasion, a mural painted on the wall of "Mihai Eminescu" National College in Suceava, conveying solidarity with and hope for the Ukrainian people, was inaugurated for the public. The mural transposes the artwork of a 15-year-old girl from Odesa, who participated in the competition organized as part of the "Message for Ukraine" campaign, on the occasion of the European Cooperation Day. More than 60 works signed by young people from Romania and Ukraine entered the contest. Six works reached the final short list and the winner was designated by public vote on the ENI CBC Romania-Ukraine 2014-2020 Facebook page. The finalists of the contest were awarded with smartwatches, and the winner, present at the event in Suceava, left home with the grand prize - an electric scooter.
Simultaneously, painting workshops were organized for Ukrainian refugee children in Suceava, which were led by the well-known graphic artist and caricaturist Mihai Pânzaru-Pim.
Within the same solidarity campaign organized by the structures of the Romania-Ukraine Program, 500 packages of school supplies were sent to several schools in Ukraine, located in the area of the cooperation program.
The audience present at the event organized in Suceava consisted of representatives of the management structures of the program, i.e. the Management Authority (Ministry of Development, Public Works and Administration), the Joint Technical Secretariat (Suceava Regional Office for Cross Border Cooperation), representatives of the Suceava City Hall, the Suceava County Council, Union of Ukrainians from Romania and the Chernivtsi Regional Council.
The participants expressed messages of support for the people of Ukraine and shared the experience of cooperation of border communities in the current context.
Every year, cooperation programmes funded by the European Union mark European Cooperation Day around 21 September, with events that bring together communities on the Union's internal and external borders. This year was the 11th celebration of this day, which took place under the auspices of the European Year of Youth.
