On Wednesday, November 20, 2024, the 9th and final meeting of the Joint Monitoring Committee of the Romania-Ukraine 2014-2020 Joint Operational Programme was held online. The meeting aimed to present the implementation status and the results achieved by the programme.
The programme financed 66 projects with a total value of €65.9 million, of which €54.17 million were non-reimbursable funds. These projects focused on key areas such as education, health, culture, transport, and emergency management, as well as initiatives for cooperation and joint training between partners from Romania and Ukraine.
Despite the challenges posed by the war in Ukraine, with the support of programme structures in both countries and the Monitoring Committee, all contracted projects were successfully completed. Many projects achieved excellent fund absorption rates and brought significant benefits to the cross-border community.
To date, €55.4 million have been paid to beneficiaries, with the remaining payments to be made in the near future as the documentation submitted to the Managing Authority is reviewed.
