European Cooperation Day 2019: over 900 people donated blood in Romania-Ukraine Programme eligible area

The management structures of Romania-Ukraine Joint Operational Programme celebrated the European Cooperation Day 2019 by organising a blood donation campaign called Europe for YOU! You for LIFE! Be a DONOR! in the programme eligible area of the two participating countries. 930 persons from both sides of the border went to the nine transfusion centres participating in the campaign and helped donate more than 350 litres of blood which will be used to save those who urgently need this help.

Europe for YOU! You for LIFE! Be a DONOR! Campaign took place from the 18th to the 20th of September 2019, in the counties of Tulcea, Botoșani, Suceava, Baia Mare and Satu Mare (in Romania) and at Chernivtsi, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ujhorod, and Odessa (in Ukraine) and it marked the European Cooperation Day 2019, celebrated every year on September 21st by the states carrying on cross border cooperation programmes financed by the European Union.
Among donors, people from the local communities who considered it important to make a vital effort for the ones in need, one could also find representatives of the Gerdarmerie, of the emergency intervention services, and employees of the local authorities.
In order to reward the efforts of the participants, Romania-Ukraine Programme organised a contest, having as prize nine MTB bikes, one for a donor from each transfusion centre. The drawing of the winners was live streammed on the programme Facebook page, ENI CBC Romania-Ukraine 2014-2020, on Thursday, September 26. The winners will officially be contacted by the organisers in the period of September 26 to October 4, 2019.
The management structures of Romania-Ukraine Joint Operational Programme would like to thank to all those involved in this campaign, both to the transfusion centres in the nine cities, which provided optimal conditions to the donors, and to the people who donated blood and made this event really matter.
