EC approved the first large infrastructure project summary

On 9 March 2017, the European Commission approved the first major project infrastructure summary: ” Improvement of the population safety and security level in the cross-border area by enhancing the joint training and cooperation actions in emergency management”, under the Operational Programme Romania – Ukraine 2014 -2020.

The project has a budget of 7.3 million euros and will be implemented in Suceava, Maramures, Satu Mare, Botosani, Tulcea in Romania and oblasts Chernivtsi and Ivano-Frankivsk in Ukraine, in partnership, by the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations of Romania , as project leader and as partners: the General Inspectorate of Aviation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Romania, the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Gendarmerie, “Bucovina” Inspectorate for Emergency Situations of Suceava county, Department of State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Chernivtsi oblast, Department of State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Ivano-Frankivsk region

In the next period, the leader and its partners will develop the grant application and technical documents related to the second stage. By the end of 2017 the full documentation will be forwarded to the EC for approval, and the project implementation will be launched in early 2018.
